HOW WE SELECT OUR
Ingredients
HOW WE SELECT OUR
Any ingredient that is not pure water is a burden on the environment. Whether it is naturally based or not. Therefore, no detergent or cosmetic product can ever be "environmentally friendly". However, we humans cannot do without such products in our everyday lives - primarily for hygienic reasons.
That is why everdrop's household and personal care products should be as environmentally friendly as possible. This means that only substances that can be broken down quickly and thus give nature the chance to regenerate are released into waste water. When selecting ingredients, we not only consider how the raw materials are obtained. But also how their use affects the environment and climate. We want to use ingredients that have a lower impact on the environment and climate.
Natural-based ingredients are often the most environmentally friendly option. However, "natural" is not always more sustainable. There are also cases where synthetic or semi-synthetic ingredients are beneficial for the environment, climate and people.
This applies, for example, when...
natural-based ingredients come from environmentally harmful monocultures with high pesticide use, some of which can also be very problematic socially
natural-based ingredients are very energy-intensive in the extraction of raw materials and therefore generate more CO2 emissions
natural-based ingredients have to be dosed higher, e.g. to achieve a sufficient cleaning effect, and therefore have a greater impact on the environment
natural-based substances are less biodegradable - many substances in nature are designed to be as durable as possible!
natural-based substances have a higher allergy potential for humans (e.g. very intense fragrances)
This is why we also use synthetic and semi-synthetic substances in some everdrop products - if there is no more sustainable natural alternative for them.
